Drake frowned as he watched Tessa rush out from his cubicle. She was a nice girl, but an awful liar. Something was clearly up. But what? A prank? No, that was more of Alison's style - though lately Blair had been keeping her quite distracted, either with jealous or the odd trip to the bathroom.
Drake smiled gleefully at the thought. He'd had so much fun watching Blair transform from shy waif into queen of the office, and catching her face redden whenever she looked his way. He should definitely make his move soon. That dictaphone was -
The dictaphone! Had Tessa found it? Worse, had she took it?
Spurred by a sudden panic, Drake wrenched his drawer open so hard it came off its hinges.
"You ok in there, Drake?" Alison called over the cubicle divider.
Drake breathed a huge sigh of relief when he saw the note and device right where he'd left them. "Fine," he said back, "Guess I don't know my own strength!"
"Yeah, you're a regular He-Man," Alison joked back but, luckily, didn't come to the cubicle to check.
Drake couldn't help but chuckle at his own foolishness as he put the drawer back into . He'd been so frightened for a moment there that the jig was finally up - and before he'd actually acted on his changes too! He did really need to think of a more secure place to keep his fantastic magical artifact. Anyone could find and use it here.
Drake frowned. Maybe... Just to be safe...
He hit the playback to listen to the last recording, and was shocked to hear Tessa's voice!
"I'm four inches taller."
Drake's heart started pounding. So not only had she found it, she'd figured out what it was! Did that mean she was on to him? This was serious. He needed to think of a way ahead...
