Angie gets it back but forget about its power

Dictaphone - chapter 33192

"Just tell me first... little freak. What this shit even does ?...", had asked Peter to Angie.

Hmph... Not really the question Angie was really wanting to be asked...
Okay, in the end Peter was acting nice enough to give her the dictaphone back.
But it wasn't like Angie would take the risk to just tell him he had in end an all powerful magical item.

So, Angie blatantly lied...
And karma would make this decision backfire to the poor 5 feet tall brunette teen.

"Well... Honestly, I don't know at all what this thing does...", Angie said softly, pretending, "But it's something I like to hang around with..."

After all these begs and whining, this was honestly a really bad lie.
And despite the acting, Peter could guess she was hiding something.
But, hey! Whatever! This whole thing wasn't amusing him anymore.

"Hm....", Peter said... Then he left his grisp on the dictaphone, allowing Angie to take it back.
Doing so, the record button was now off again.
And hence, the magic was making what Angie said truth, as slowly, but inevitably Angie was forgetting everything about the Dictaphone's power.

"Oh, whatever! I don't give a shit about your nerd stuff! Just get lost, shrimp!" he said, before taking the stuff he went back into the locker room for in the first place. Locking this time his locker behind him, and going back away to the gymnasium court.

Angie looked, still amazed by the unexpected issue of all this, looking at the jock casually walking away, ignoring her and the dictaphone he used to own for nearly a day, now on her hands.

All this for just a plain dictaphone.
Angie, looking back at it, suddenly wondered why she even got into so much trouble for just this.
She didn't knew (anymore) why, but somehow, the nerd brunette was still happy to get it back.
She just liked this thing, for some reasons she couldn't tell herself.

"Angie ?!"

Angie, interrupted in her daydreaming, turned back to a feminine unexpected voice calling for her behind her.
At the entrance of the boys' locker room was standing Lucy.

Concerned about her friend's weird behavior, and observing she had been missing the currently going class, the goth girl had followed Angie, after excusing herself to the teacher to absent herself from class to "go to toilets", and finally just found her here.

"Lucy ?..." said Angie, as surprised as her friend, not expecting her goth friend would have searched for her.

"What are you doing in the gymnasium ? You're missing Chemistry, one of your favorite class!" asked Lucy.
Looking at the dictaphone in her hands, Angie said.

"I... had to take something back... Peter stole me something important this morning, and I had to take it back..."

Lucy noticed the dictaphone in her friend's hands
"Uh... okay ?..."

Lucy then approached Angie, grab her hand and forcely made her move from here.
"You're weird, you know that ?", Lucy said as she was dragging Angie away from the gymnasium, "Let's get out of here before someone notice us! "

And so went the rest of the school day for the 2 girls.
They didn't bothered going back to the lesson. Angie had her excuse of being sick.
Not Lucy, who just pretended she went to toilets but never went back, but she didn't cared, she was a rebel.
She just made a quick return to the classroom to take back her stuff after everyone, teacher included, went home.

Walking peacefully their way home under the sunset,
Lucy and Angie casually discussed, the goth girl ending by asking her friend's plan for the incoming week-end days.

"So, what are you doing this week-end, geek ?", Lucy asked Angie, joking, as she was herself a geek as well.
"Wanna hang up in my house tomorrow ? I've got Final Fantasy 15 on a cheap resale on my PS4. Wanna play it with me ?", she asked.

"Ah!... Heum... No, sorry!", Angie answered, her attention was pretty focused, all during her walk, on her dictaphone. She couldn't tell why, but the brunette felt there was something with it.... This was weird... but whatever.
"Tomorrow I babysit my little cousin at home. I won't have time to see you." the brunette said.

"How sad !...", sighed Lucy, disappointed, but okay with it.
"So you have a little cousin ? I don't remember you told me about it. How old is he ?"

" She.... She's a girl. And yes, I don't really have a reason to talk you about her. Her name is Candy. She's 6 !"

"Wow! Shit, 6! How annoying! You can't do anything with kid that young!..."

"Yeah... I know!"
, sighed Angie, "She's also pretty energetic, exhausting and annoying on time!"

"Do you 2 get along ?"

"Well, i'm 16 and she's 6. I'm nearly a late teen and she's barely more than a baby, so... It's complicate...
I try to be good, but sometimes Candy sees me as a mean or bad girl because I don't allow her to do whatever she wants!"

"Ah... yeah. 'Children'.."

"But overall, she's a pretty sweet and kind girl."

"Not like her meanie little 'big' cousin!"
, teased Lucy, sticking her tongue out.

Angie giggled.

The 2 girls eventually split their ways, each to get back to their home.
Angie looking at the dictaphone all the way to her house.
Somehow, she had the feeling she shouldn't leave this thing too far away from her.

"I should find a use someday for this.", she told to herself, correcting her glasses on her mousey face.

That could be something to do tomorrow, while babysitting her 6 year old cousin all day.
