Kevin’s stomach was doing somersaults as he crouched behind a car on Josh’s street. He felt hopelessly trapped. Police cars had quietly blocked either end of the street, and several officers had entered Josh’s house. If he ran, he was sure he would be noticed. If Josh were arrested again, it was only a matter of time before they found him, and there would be no hope of a rescue attempt like last time. Then several shots rang out, and Kevin feared the worst. His heart pounded. Each second felt like an hour.
Suddenly there was a blue flash before his eyes, and Kevin suddenly found himself face to face with a costumed blonde superhero, wearing the unmistakable emblem of the house of El. She was the absolute image of eighteen year old perfection, with an angelic face, smooth toned limbs, and pert breasts that seemed to beckon to him. It was not her beauty that caused Josh’s jaw to drop, though. It was the fact that she was hovering two feet above the ground, her red cape billowing behind her in an unfelt breeze.
“J-Josh?” he stammered. “It’s you, right? What did you do? I thought you couldn’t copy superpowers.”
Supergirl gave a smile that made Kevin’s heart melt and she settled to the ground a few feet in front of Kevin. “Yeah, it’s me. Now you know why I had to get back to my house. We don’t have to worry about anything anymore. I’m more or less unstoppable.”
Of all the questions Kevin had, he had to make a nerdy comment first. “Well, there’s kryptonite.”
“Not in this universe,” Josh chuckled. The thought of being the most powerful force on the planet was starting to turn him on. He found himself wishing that Kevin was a hot babe and realized that he had the power to make that happen. Maybe later, he thought.
“So they just let you go?” Kevin asked, finally getting back to the problem at hand.
“Not really,” Josh said. “They rubbed me the wrong way, and I took them out of the picture. Don’t worry, they’ll be all right. God, I love being this strong! I want to tear up a city. What’s a city no-one would miss?” he asked, half-joking.
“Akron,” Kevin said. Then he became worried that Josh might act on impulse, so he quickly added “But promise me you won’t do anything too violent. You’re on the verge of creating a nationwide panic.”
“Not to worry. I have the power now to fix any damage I might do. And we’re going to have so much fun, Kevin!”
Just then, the police cars at either end of the street turned their lights on. Apparently, they heard the gunshots and could not raise their partners on the radio.
“Yay. Fun,” Kevin said. He suddenly felt very squishy and vulnerable.
