As Natalia rounded the corner into her cul-de-sac, she saw her Dad just pulling into the driveway from work. She felt a twinge of anxiousness overtake her and quickly lept behind the neighbor's birch tree to hide herself from him. She made it to the door and made a small smile at how short it looked as her eyes were level with the top of the door frame. Taking a deep breath, she knocked.
"I'll get it!" She heard her mom yell in the background. Just a moment later, a short, 5'2" Latino-american woman in her early forties answered the door. It took several seconds for her to grasp what she was looking at.

The color drained completely from her Mom's face, "Oh God, Nat that's not good. And you don't simply look like an adult you look like..." Her Mom paused before she said something she shouldn't in front of her little girl.
Nat smiled and patted her mom on the head, "I'll be fine Mom. I'm good... Promise!"
Her mom was too stunned to say anymore and they both stood up and walked into the house.
Dinner was mostly awkward fair for her parents but Nat was blissfully amused with herself the whole evening as she giggled about how small the chairs and other furniture were. The final hours of the day passed quickly and before long her parents bid her goodnight and she found herself laying down on her bed by herself remeniscing.
