"Well, well, Jim." the 'original' Sharon said as he was being held fast by the centauress.
"What's going on?!?"
"Tell me, dear boy. WHy do you think that a girl with so many options, like myself, kept sharing her life with someone who on the outside looks just like a pathetic nerd?"
"I don't know... maybe because these are the nineties and I'm going to make a lot of money in the future? Sharon, what are you talking about? I love you! I thought you loved me too!"
"Please. You are too kind of heart to get anywhere in this world, Jimmy boy. But this is the most energy-efficient alt-catapult I have ever seen... we might implement it as standard design, you know?"
Jim knew that neuter tone of voice. He'd heard it three or four times, and in his opinion it was already three or four times too many. "Sharon? You-"
"I was with them all along" they said, again in unison, "we needed positive ID of your role within the UNA before we could proceed."
Just then, two 'conventional' Men in Grey in their uniforms entered the room and shot dead all the modified Sharons except for the centauress and the mermaid. They then used the catapult to warp them in other locations where their presence was needed. Jim was simply knocked out by the remaining Sharon, as the two MiGs disposed of the corpses.
When Jim woke up...
