To Shiny Random’s ear, the voice that called out to her was familiar, though the tone she used wasn't. It sounded like Helen Williams, her skinny, gothy classmate who usually showed up at school dressed in black, wore her black hair long, and kept her complexion pale. But she and Helen never really chatted or hung out, so it was odd for Shiny Random to hear her classmate so casually call her ‘Shiny’.
And that boisterous, almost aggressive tone in her voice was…well, that wasn’t very Helen at all.
Shiny Random turned to greet Helen back, and then froze. Helen wasn’t Helen any more than Shiny Random was…well, whatever her own name used to be. this version of Helen was dressed in a similar blue and red school uniform, with the top strained around her shockingly large tits. Her normally brushed, black hair was a wild mane streaked with red, and matched her long, full tail.
As Helen(?) approached Shiny Random with an excited, aggressive glint in her eye. Her complexion still pale, she wore black liptick and eyeshadow, and did nothing to cover the…jagged scar across one cheek and the bridge of her nose????
“You ready to kick ass this year?”
Helen(???????) had never been one to be excited about school. She usually sat in the back of the class, disinterested. She also likely couldn’t have given less of a damn about the school sports teams. So for this horsegirl version of her to trot up and give Shiny Random a look as though she was about to run headlong into a wall like an amped-up football player, well…
Strangely, she believed this Helen absolutely would charge through a wall. Or at the very least, she wouldn’t care if there was a wall in her way.
“Um…maybe?” Shiny Random responded to her classmate’s question with an indeterminate answer. Kick ass at what? She still wasn’t even sure what had happened to the school.
Helen snorted. “Come on, Shiny! We’re on the same team! What’s everyone else gonna think if we don’t win every race we can?”
“Hell Leap, Shiny Random, shouldn’t you two be getting to class?”
Hell Leap? Was that Hele…Hel…? Shiny Random lost Hell Leap’s old name just as fast as she had lost her own. She turned and saw an oddly familiar woman, a human woman, dressed in a full riding ensemble. Tan riding pants, a white blouse, a red riding coat, and a pair of black riding boots. It was…

“Hey, Trainer!” Hell Leap greeted. “We were just heading in. RIght, Shiny?”
“Uh…” Shiny Random had less and less an idea of anything that was happening as time went on. “Yeah…yeah! W-We were just going!”
“Well, don’t be late after classes are over,” Mrs. Miller (Calista? Was that her first name?) sighed. “And take the proper paths.”
That seemed like an oddly specific request. Shiny Random wondered what promp—
“Aw, a shortcut here and there isn’t bad,” Hell Leap clasped her hands behind her head. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
“Hell Leap, you nearly lost an eye last year when you ran straight through a blackberry bramble.”
“Eh, builds character.” Hell Leap shrugged.
“And kills depth perception!” Calista palmed her face. “Just be on time so we can get through team introductions today.”
“We’ll be there!” Hell Leap smirked, and then took Shiny Random by the wrist, much to her surprise, as she turned toward the academy. “Come on, I know a shortcut to our classroom!”
“And no windows,” Calista barked. “Just use the door and move at a canter if you need to hurry.”
“Will do, Trainer!” Shiny Random replied as she and Hell Leap made their way to the entrance. If Hell Leap wasn’t going to be the responsible one, it seemed that role was up to her.
Not that she had any idea what she was doing.
