He is confronted with what resembles an airport security scanner: as he waddles through it, there's a loud BZZZ and he's met by another buxom nurse, who invites him to be seated in a comfy chair, saying "wait a few minutes while the scan is interpreted". While waiting, he can hear muffled sounds from the next room, but can't quite decide whether they are of strangled laughter or disgust.
Just as Jim is about to get up (a task made more difficult by his increased girth) and investigate, the doctor comes in with a folder, and reports "I've some good news and some bad news. The scan clearly shows that your abdomen contains a brood-pouch like that of a male sea-horse. This pouch will protect your offspring while it's maturing and ensure that it cannot be expelled prematurely. It's interesting to see that it has incorporated itself into your body so completely that you'll have no difficulty in coping with its development, but on the other hand any attempt to remove it would almost certainly be fatal."
Jim thought about this for a couple of minutes, and as the significance sank in cried out "You mean I've got to go through with this damn pregnancy! - so what's the good news?"
The doctor responded "That was the good news - the bad news is that the scan shows that you're carrying ...
