Edith threw the covers off of her body and sat up. Rover sat up and looked at her from under the blanket.
" What? You shouldn't be fat and lazy." she said to him. He grunted and jumped off the bed. He streched on the floor and walked down the stairs across the hall from her room.
" Lazy. Just like Jim." she said with a smile. She swung her legs out from the bed and stood up. She was wearing a pink t-shirt and white short shorts. She started to walk out her room and to the bathroom down the other end of the hall. Halfway she stopped and remembered something Jim was telling the family, about how he was working on a device or some chemical that would make him famous. She wondered what it could be that would make a 20 year old loser enough money to move out of his parents basement.
She couldn't resist and headed down stairs to the kitchen and grabbed a pop tart from the pantry. She tried to open the door to the basement, but it was locked. Odd. Jim never lock the door. She was going to give up, but she looked under the key dish in the front hall and found the key. With key in hand she unlocked the door and headed down, Rover started to follow.
" No! You go sit down." she said. Last time he was down here he knocked over a 'very important chemical', or so Jim said. As she reached the bottem of the stairs she saw the Lair of Jim. On the far wall there was a work bench along the entire wall with beakers and test tubes lined up in stands. The different colored, bubbling chemicals looked like soda. She looked to her right and saw shelves full of computers, tools, and an assortment of gun shaped devices.
She made her way to the chemicals and looked at each of them. They were strange in that they had no markings or other indication as to what they were. She picked up a beaker and held it up to the light. Not sure what she was looking for, she put it down. As she put it back down on the table her hand bumped into the beaker next to it. As the beaker fell to the floor she tried to catch it, but she couldn't get it. It hit the floor and the liquid splashed all over her feet.
" Dammit." she yelled. She ran to find a towel and hurried to clean herself up. As she started to wipe off the liquid, she notice a tingling creeping up her legs. As the sensation continued up her body, it began to intensify. She felt the tingle all over her body start to fade away, and was replaced by a dizzyness. She soon felt so dizzy she had to sit down.
