Link reached her hands up in frustration, she had enough of curses for one day! She grasped the fake ears and tugged, only, they didn’t just remain, they hurt. Link winced in pain before tugging again. The result didn’t change. Link turned to the mirror, and the ears that sat on her head twitched. Moving with life they didn’t have mere moments ago.
“Link?” Midna called out of concern, only to be met with silence.
Link couldn’t see the hairband anymore. She dug through her hair, but couldn’t find anything. But as she rooted her roots, they had begun to change color. Her roots had always been blonde from the moment of her birth, but now? They were beginning to shift towards a more reddish hue. The hair turned pink on her head, becoming indistinguishable from the ears on her head. As Link tugged and searched with increased panic, more changes began to manifest themselves one after another. She looked to her original ears, and in a sudden realization, went to feel for them. But nothing was there, just more pink hair, the same as on her head. That’s when she saw it wasn’t staying on her head.
The skin on Link’s face, once pale and red with pain began to once again grow lost to the transformation. Only it was no longer the peach fuzz she had been used to, but thick, pick patches of hair that leaked downward from her scalp. The round and feminine shape that she was just beginning to grow used to seeing in her own reflection softened once again with fur growing even more feminine, with some minor animalistic traits. Her nose and mouth began to push out, and resembling something more akin to a rabbit’s. Her blue eyes remained, and watched as her nose began to wiggle, investigating its new sensitivity, thing, delicate whiskers sprouting around it’s sides. She had hoped she would never see something like this happen again.
Fur continued to spread downward, suffocating her smooth skin with patches of soft, finely colored fur. Despite covering her body completely, she only felt more naked as the fur spread. She scratched and rubbed at the fur in some desperate attempt to stop it’s spread, slow it down, anything. But it only seemed to accelerate her changes further. Soon, every inch of skin was covered with this cursed hair, and somehow, everything felt more sensitive. Even her breasts, which were beginning to feel constrained under the leotard. Was it due to the fur? No… they were growing! Once again, they swelled a full cup-size, pushing the leotard past it’s intended limit. Now, she was beginning to worry. That’s when she realized, her body wasn’t finished changing.
Panic reigned in, as the familiar pain of muscles and bones shifting suddenly began to sting once again. She clenched her teeth together, groaning and stifling agonized whimpers as her hips expanded once again, becoming wider, giving her what some would call an appealing thigh gap. Her rear, much like her breasts before, ballooned with fat and muscle. It grew into a perfect peach shaped pair of cheeks, with a noticeable and alluring jiggle and size. Much harder to cover and hide, just begging for attention. Her legs snapped growing longer, digitigrade, forcing her to walk on the toes that were now bursting through the boots she had just been put into. Even with the loss of the heel, she didn’t lose any height with the stance she was now forced into. She tried to step, but her legs could only wobble for balance with unfamiliarity. Link could feel the remains of the boots beneath her, thanks to sensitive pads that pushed through the fur, letting her feel the ground more than she ever could before. She could feel the heat, the texture, the material, even the things beneath it with much more awareness than she ever could’ve imagined before. Even her hands snapped and shifted, growing larger, and though her fingers remained, they grew much fatter than before. Small claws poking out of the ends, as they resembled some strange mixture of human and rabbit, complete with pads on her palm, and each fingertip.
She had endured another forced transformation, complete with a small, white rabbit tail poking out just above her read. Link turned to Midna with clear frustration. Tears were welling in her eyes.
“Hey, Link-“
“What? Want to tell me women would kill for this body? Wan to tell me it’s okay? Is that it?” Link sniffled. “That it’s all going to be okay? I can’t fight like this! I can’t do anything like this! This stupid body… one transformation wasn’t enough… I’m useless now! Dressed like some sort of weird whore… and all my gear just up and vanished! But go ahead, tell me how it’s going to be okay! Tell me how we can still defeat Zant!”
“No… I’m sorry.” Midna responded.
“What?”
“I’m sorry this happened.” Midna repeated, hovering closer to the changed woman. “But, it will be okay, and not because of this body, because of you. You’re the strongest man I’ve ever met, and that’s still true. Even like this.”
“…what?” Link sniffled.
“I mean it. Even like this, I know things will be okay, because you’ll make them okay. You’ve proved that multiple times.”
Link’s tears slowly began to dry up, and she asked “You mean it?”
“I do.” Midna nodded. “You’re the hero, chosen by the goddesses after all. But even if you weren’t I’d say you’re still say you’re a hero. My hero at least.”
“…Midna! I-“ Link burst into tears and nearly collapsed. Midna extended her prehensile hair around the poor rabbit girl, and pulled her closer. Midna shimmied awkwardly, she wasn’t used to this sort of thing. She hardly knew how to comfort the woman, but she knew for certain she needed it. She held her as long as she could, and eventually, the crying subsided.
“So… what now… I don’t know if I can exactly do much like this… and the mastersword… it just… vanished.” Link asked.
It was true… all of Link’s equipment had vanished, spirited away by some unseen force. It was as if the curse that gave her this form, took her precious items in exchange. Including the sacred blade.
“We’ll just have to claim it again then, won’t we?” Midna answered. “Not that you need that dull blade, you’ve been plenty capable with less.”
“True, but… it’s back to square one. We were nearly ready to assault Zant, but now… we’re worse off than how we began.”
“That just means he’ll have more time to regret what he did to us. We’ll be ready again in no time, better than before! Then we’ll show him.” She grinned. “So we can’t stay here moping, as romantic as it is.”
Link smiled, Midna was correct. This was just a setback. She nuzzled Midna softly “True… but… can’t we stay like this, just a little longer?” Link asked. For some reason she couldn’t explain… she just felt much warmer, happier, and safe in Midna’s embrace. Even with the fate of two worlds on the line, her heart pounded with an unrecognizable warmth she had never known. She just wanted to remain by her side… for even just a moment more.
Midna responded “Well…”
