Midna floated up behind the young woman and said, "Link! Are you ok?"
The girl calmly turned to face her and said, "I apologize. The young man appears to be in shock. He will be with us shortly."
"So shocked that you started referring to yourself in the third person?" asked Midna. "Because a stupid coping mechanism is exactly what the Chosen Hero needs.
"You misunderstand." she replied. "I am not Link. I am Princess Aryll Harkinian of the Kingdom of Hyrule."
"Harkinian?" Midna's visible eye narrowed. "That isn't a name to be used lightly."
"I do not jest. I was born in a time of civil war, and the future of Hyrule was uncertain. It was decided that my spirit would be sealed away to preserve the wisdom of Hylia's line. I have been dormant in that gem ever since."
"The wisdom of Hylia's line? Don't make me laugh!" said Midna. "You don't have to turn people into pretty little princesses for that."
"The warning inscribed on the chest-"
"There was no warning, and even if there was, nobody can read your five-thousand year old chicken scratch."
Aryll's hand again went to her mouth. "Oh my, has it really been that long?"
"Who knows?" replied Midna. "Your family sealed my people in a world of eternal twilight. We don't exactly have accurate time-keeping."
"That is unfortunate." said Aryll. "I had hoped that unlike Link you would know what had become of the Harkinian family."
"Do I look like on expert on the genealogy of Hyrule's royal family?" quipped Midna. "The current rulers are the Nohansens, but I'm sure you Harkinians are still - wait, how did you know that Link didn't know that?"
"We can see each other's memories. How else would I be speaking modern Hyrulean when I haven't had a conversation in five thousand years?"
Midna clenched her fists, and her hair rose up behind her. Aryll took a step back, but Midna calmed herself and said, "Then you know how important getting Link back in action is."
"I do." said Aryll. She could see in Link's mind how dire the situation was. Zant the Usurper had stolen most of the Fused Shadows from them, turned Link into a wolf, and nearly killed Midna. Only Princess Zelda's sacrifice had saved her, and the legendary Master Sword was able to break Zant's spell on Link. If Zant was not stopped, Hyrule too would be swallowed by eternal twilight and forever ruled by a mad king. She could not allow that to happen.
"Good. Now you'd better be able to change him back, or at least do something useful to make up for all this."
