Level Upper: Disassemble?

A few minutes after Saten arrived at Judgement Branch 177, the "Level Upper" sat on a table between her and Uiharu. To all appearances, it was just an egg-shaped bit of white plastic, small enough to hide in the palm of one's hand. It had a digital screen, which was currently blank, a red button that didn't seem to do anything, and a clip on the back.

"I don't think it's the same thing," Uiharu concluded. "Even when you press the button, it doesn't make any sound. It doesn't even have anything on it that looks like a speaker or an interface jack. It might not actually do anything at all."

"At least it was cheap."

Uiharu pulled out a case of small tools. "At this point, you could reasonably take it home or just throw it away, but I'd like to take it apart just to be sure."

Saten nodded. "Sure, why not?"

1. Uiharu takes the Level Upper apart, but it looks like ordinary electronics.
2. ...except that there are more parts inside than could possibly fit.
3. Actually, the inside is completely hollow. That means it has to be a fake, right?
4. *Opening the case releases a cloud of glittering dust that gets all over both girls.
5. It can't be taken apart. There are no seams, and it turns out that it's impervious to damage.
