Sakura, the school nurse had been having trouble sleeping. Jariten, without asking, took her one of Lum’s dream berries. Lum told Jariten that she cultivated these special berries because they helped her have sweet dreams.
What Lum neglected to mention was that the dreams were customized for her and her alone. Each night they gave her a different romantic fantasy about her darling Ataru.
On the way to Sakura’s house Jariten began to wonder if one berry was enough. When he passed Ran’s spaceship Jariten had an idea. He borrowed a growth ray then planted the berry in the park and gave it a little zap. Soon there was a whole tree with an abundance of fresh berry fruit. The berries where also bigger with a brighter colour, earths environment had likely made them far more potent then the fruit grown in spaceships. He picked a handful and flew off to see Sakura.
