What can I say? I got this crazy urge to write some more Urusei Yatsura out of nowhere! Here are some stories that I'll try to write over the next few weeks, unless someone else gets to them first.
1: Bubble Headed. Based on Volume 26, Chapter 8 (or Chapter 275 overall), Fantasy Balloon Gum. Ataru acquires a special brand of gum that allows him to make anything he wants by imagining it while blowing a bubble. In this version of events he rapidly realises that there are other, better uses for such an invention and immediately puts it to perverted use.
2: Alien Flu. Based on Volume 10, Chapter 9 (100 overall), Cure For the Uncommon Cold. Lum falls sick with an alien disease, leading the boys in Ataru's class to make the very stupid move of acquiring the mask she wear to prevent others getting infected. Surprise surprise, the idiots get infected with the alien disease! Seriously, Ataru is the most sensible person of the lot and only does it because the other boys pay up. When Ataru is the sensible one, you have fucked up something royal. But, while in the manga this led to their faces changing colour, this time there's an alternative side effect.
3: Side Effects of Hypnotism: Based on Volume 12, Chapter 10 (123 overall) Hello, Sailor Suits. Ataru is kidnapped repeatedly by Mendo's sister, who is hypnotising him every night into becoming her loyal puppy. While in canon, the hypnotism works about as well as a chocolate kettle, what if she'd actually managed to acquire the right ingredients? And what if repeated exposure to those ingredients has an effect on Ryoko and her schoolfriends that none of them could have expected?
4: First Impressions: Based on Volume 1, Chapter 1, A Good Catch. It turns out that Lum is as big a pervert as Ataru, and is mostly interested in him because marrying a human is such a naughty concept that she can't resist. How big a change does this have on the series as a whole? Answer: A lot. A hell of a lot. Like, you have no idea.
5: Transformation Spray: Based on Volume 21, Chapter 7, Transformation Spray. Ataru steals a can of transformation spray from Ten, that allows him to become anything he wants. What if he accidentally mixed the contents with something else, transforming the spray itself into something with completely different, yet similar effects?
