A knock at the door signaled an event that was surprisingly not commonplace for the detective agency: a potential client. Kumitada scrambled up off the couch that was meant for clients’ use and made a quick check of the room to make certain everything was professional-looking. He needn’t have bothered, since Hanae was, despite her one glaring fault, extremely serious about her work.
Remembering that this client was arranged by her, Kumitada turned to the secretary. “Anything you can tell us about our visitor?”
“It’s rude to keep them waiting,” Hanae said chastisingly, before turning towards the door. “Please, come in.”
