There were four knocks on the door, and that meant Arthur had arrived. Katherine smiled a small smile, wiping it off her face before opening the door, and asked, "Ready?"
"Wow. Bit bright. Black's nice, honestly, but... well..." Arthur said as he began moving from side to side, ducking up and down as he looked over her body. Katherine intentionally chose the shorter dress she owned as she knew it'd throw Arthur off, but it wasn't really that short. Maybe a little above her knees, but he always treated stuff like that as if it wasn't even clothing. "I thought we were going to the county fair, not the... thing people dress up for."
"Thing people dress up for?" Katherine asked, frowning at her friend as she stepped outside the dorm room, locking the door behind her.
"Yeah, like a... well, I suppose a dance, a wedding, a funeral, a... nope, sorry. Out of examples." Arthur said, blushing as he looked away from the girl's exposed legs.
"Okay, so it's a little bit short, sue me!" Katherine laughed cruelly, walking down the hallway as Arthur scrambled to catch up, then began wringing his hand as he always seemed to be doing. "Do you mind?"
"Hm? Oh, this? Sorry. Bad habit, working on it a day at a time, yeah?" Arthur responded quick as he always did, but calmed down a bit. "So... country fair. What do people do there?"
"How have you never been to the fair?" Katherine asked with a smirk. "Your family went every year, right?"
"Right."
"So, what?" Katherine asked with a ghost of a small hint of concern. "Did they forget you every year?"
"Oh, you know me." Arthur said, smiling as he seemed to always be doing. "Don't like people--well..."
"Oh, trust me, I know what you think of people." Katherine groaned, rememembering every little bit of her roommate's worldview.
"Do I talk about my beliefs that much?" Arthur asks in complete disbelief. "Really?"
"Every single time you're up past ten you start saying some bullshit about society, or humans, or the French, or something, or whatever." Katherine noted critically. "It's never the same, but they start to sound the same if you block it out as much as I do."
"Yeah, I suppose I do." Arthur said cheerfully as they exited the building to see the fair down the street. "Huh. Is that it?"
"Yeah, when I said down the street, I meant literally down the street." Katherine said, putting her face in her left hand. "I get that you're not as smart as me, and don't start that bullshit of intelligence is relative, but try to keep up."
"Oh, you know me." Arthur said with a slight frown. "I don't believe people can just be smart or... well, the other, that easily. I mean, do people just know it when they see it, or are there certain things that make someone... Katherine? Katherine, you left, didn't you?"
"Oh, that bitch just crossed the street." A kid Arthur vaguely recognized said from behind him.
"Fantastic." Arthur sighed. "Most Likely To Forget or Lose Something really comes in handy, doesn't it?"
