Jim's mother grabbed the plant from him and demanded that he do his chores or else....

Jim paused and tried to think of what to say to warn his mother. "Now get into the kitchen!" She barked.

1. Jim's mother slammed the plant down on the dining room table and walked off
2. Jim went into the kitchen and waited, and listened...
3. The flower started to open.
