Rick clears the work table of the useless mechanical junk and lays Geiser's body on it. He grabs a hack saw and cuts off her mashed and bloody head. He then wheels out a rollcart loaded with strange looking devices. While his BE ray prototypes had all been failures, (Rick had helped Jim with the mathematical formulas for the BE Gun, but it was Jim who had successfully developed the actual gun) Rick's OTHER pet project had produced some incredible results. Rick had perfected a procedure in which he could indefinitely keep a human body alive, even if it was missing its head.
If Geiser was the inspiration for the BE Gun, then Rick's dog Booby was the inspiration for the Body Sustainer. You see, when Rick was a kid Booby had been decapitated in a freak ice-cream truck accident. Ever since then he had mourned for his faithful friend and had wished that there had been a way to keep the dog's body alive long enough to reattach its head.
Rick attaches his Frankenstein-like machines onto and into the bloody stump of Geiser's neck and then drops her useless head into a potatoe sack. He buries the sack in a hole in his backyard.
