Jim found the world rather dull. This is why he actually invented such crazy things; To make the world a bit more interesting. But other people seemed determined to keep the world dull, and had spurned many of his creations as "Mad" or "Perverted". What had been wrong with the machine that makes girls breasts temporarily grow within a 5 yard radius (Okay, sure, it had also turned their skin polka dot, but once they left its range they went back to normal)? Or his non toxic formula for making people glow in the light (Much harder than making them glow in the dark).
For just a moment as his hand had rested on his newest device, Jim had become fed up with the world and uttered his deepest wish. The one that could be said to have straight from the should.
"I wish the world was more interesting like my fantasies".
As Jim climbed into bed, feeling oddly tired, much more so than he felt he should have for only 11pm, he decided he was just being silly about the whole thing. The device probably did nothing more than flash some lights from the dome or emit a frequency that melts wood or something equally simple and childish as that.

Elsewhere, or more specifically back at the high school auditorium, the device waited for the right time as it gathered energy. This device was in fact, the eldrich enchanting bomb. It had sought a way into this world and found the delightful chaos constant of Jim. Good old Jim, always good for a little reality bending. It had got him to build itself, and then with a little spark of purpose and a rather larger spark of soul, it had begun it's activation process and began storing up power for it's big release onto the world.
A mix of magic, science, and purpose, that was the key. And purpose was important too. Without it, the bomb would just release a bunch of random energy onto the world, that could cause anything from an explosion to everyone waking up the next day with the wrong hair color. No, you had to have a purpose, but since it didn't have a mind of its own or free will, the bomb had to take it from whoever was touching it. The chunk of soul was also a bit important, as it was needed as a base for the reaction. How else was the bomb supposed to work it's power without a taste of this universes most basic driving energy?
Then the clock struck midnight. Midnight was important for the bomb, there were certain dramatics expected of such Devices, and with something like a sigh, it blew up.
