Katie immediately wilted under the blaze of the sun, partly out of instinct. Her normal body was on the pale side and she tended to burn very quickly. That was probably less of an issue with her current olive complexion but even so it was insanely hot.
Desperately the young queen looked around for shelter, her eyes tracking a landscape of sand dunes traking as far as the eye could see in all directions. All except one. There at the corner of her eye, about a hundred feet away a rock outcrop jutted out of the sun. She ran for it, sliding and falling through the dunes. As she drew close she saw it wasn't an outcrop at all, but a squat stone building half buried from the sand. A rectangle led into the dark interior promising blessed relief, a doorway or for all she knew a window. Katie thumbled in without a second thought, relieved beyond measure to be in the coolness of the shade. Her eyes took a moment to readjust to the darkness and before she could see she heard a female voice speak:
"Welcome to my home, whoever you are. Now go back out or you'll be sorry!"
Katie's vision cleared and she saw...
