"Well, of course, you know," Mineta puffed up his chest and rubbed his chin. "Iida's perfect date is Asui. Guys like that always end up with ugly girls.”
Sero looked appalled. “What the hell, Mineta.”
“Don't be a dick, man,” Denki chimed in. “Tsu's awesome.”
“Where do you get off making fun of how someone's quirk makes them look? You're the one with balls growing out of your head.”
Panicking, Mineta held up his friends defensively. “I mean, I don't think Asui's ugly, she's got huge boobs, I just mean, objectively, by society's standards, she looks like a frog and that's weird, I mean, society thinks that's weird and-”
“Wait. Mineta.” Denki chuckled. “Are you wearing one of those toy rings they put in kid's snacks?”
“Oh my god, he is! That's something a little kid would do.”
“What? No no no!” Mineta hid his hand under the table. “I'm not wearing any ring.”
And he wasn't. The ring, Mineta had been trying to tug off his finger, vanished. Sero and Denki paused in the middle of their taunts, like they had lost their train of thoughts. Mineta watched as they silently sat back down, confused, before the movie caught their attention again. Mineta looked around quickly for the ring. It was nowhere to be found.
“Uh, guys?”
“Yeah, what?”
“Did you see… a ring?”
“A what? No. Do these have prizes?” Sero picked up one of the snack boxes to look at the pack.
Mineta couldn't believe his ears. “It's… nothing. Don't worry about it.”

“Was it some kind of quirk?” Mineta asked himself. He had excused himself to get more ice from the dorm kitchen. On the way there, he had tried asserting that he wasn't wearing any pants, that he was six feet tall, and that the dorm had a fourth floor. Nothing happened. Whatever happened to the ring, it hadn't been him. Had it been a ring?
Mineta walked by the common area and froze in his tracks. A chill ran up Mineta's spin. Iida Tenya and Tsuyu Asui were cuddling together, on the couch. Iida was reading, while the frog girl seemed content to bask in the tall boy's body heat. Iida and Tsuyu ran with the same group of friends, but they had never shown the slightest interest in each other…
Iida's perfect date is Asui. Guys like that always end up with ugly girls.
Mineta realized he had to find that ring.
