"To whatever unlucky person should find this note,
My name is Jennifer. If you are like me, you're someone who had the good fortune to find their way out of that maze of a cave, filled with curses and traps at every turn. I don't know how I made it out, much less how I came to be there in the first place, but it appears that I and the other women that I befriended while inside may never return home.
I was lucky enough to escape the cave without falling to any of its tricks, as were a few of the others. Mary, unfortunately, was bitten by a small snake while in the cave, and the venom's effect has done horrifying things to her body. At first, it seemed like a simple nuisance. Her black hair became a dark green shortly after she received the bite. We managed to escape the cave a few hours later, and eventually found this cabin.
That was yesterday afternoon. Within a few hours of our escape, Mary continued to change. Her legs went numb for several minutes, and we all started to panic until we saw them form together into an elongated snake's tail. She grew a pair of long and presumably poisonous fangs. Her tongue forked. She regretted having gone down that path ever since the snake bit her, but the grief of what happened to her was too much. In a panic, she slithered off, and I haven't seen her since.
However, this wasn't the last of our troubles. As soon as night fell, the full moon in the sky seemed to have an effect on the rest of us. The power of the curses effects varied between us, but we all started taking on traits of animals. I became lucky, as not much happened to my body. However, some of the others had much more violent transformations. They turned into complete monsters, and their minds were mad with violence. Those of us who retained our minds were able to escape, and have lost contanct with them. There are only three of us left. Myself, Nicole and Laura. The others---I have no more time. Dawn has yet to come, but one of them is nearby. I'll hide this in the cabin if I can make it. I can only hope that these transformations wear off at dawn!"
Heather finished reading the note out loud. She looked up to find Alice frightened half out of her wits in terror, while Sharon was blankly oblivous to whatever danger they might be in.
"What are we going to do?" Alice gasped. "We know that the curse had next to no effect on Sharon, and it didn't catch you much, but what if I was wrong? What if I turn into a monster at night and go on a rampage without realizing it?"
"Calm down, Alice!" Heather replied. "We can't be sure either way, but there's got to be a way to keep you safe." Before she could say anything else, the girls were startled by a rustling outside. Sharon peeked out a window to investigate.
