Kane, arms crossed underneath his cloak and leaning against a short table arrayed with implements of examination, arched an eyebrow at Sharon's question, and the gladiatrix flushed slightly under her trainer's hard eye. The girl, for her part, looked flabbergasted -- she stammered for a minute, looking from Sharon with bewilderment to Kane with confusion and a hint of fear -- was this some sort of trap?
"M-m-m .. Mistress is asking me my opinion?!" she finally managed to get out.
Sharon paused and half-glanced over at Kane -- who stood there impassively. "Yes." She nodded. "Yes," she continued, growing more sure of herself, "I am. If you don't have the kind of fighting spirit that the Vixens of the K'Ral Stables will need for their battles in the arena, then I've no interest in you fighting by my side." Sharon drew herself up straight, feeling a small flush of pride -- she knew she was a slave, but she was strong, and she felt it.
The girl paused, chewing her lower lip. What kind of house would this be that gave their prize slaves such latitude? But at the same time -- was it worth the risk of gladiator combat to enjoy such benefits? This well-muscled amazon standing before her evidently felt so, from the way she clutched that sword at her bare thigh. Her eyes flitted from Sharon to Kane once again, and she answered...
