Jim finally arrived at his new job, Literary Guardians Inc.
Backstory:
Recently, it was discovered that any form of fiction will, when written, cause a brand new parallel universe to spring up.
That means, any story ever written exists in another universe.
This fact was discovered entirely accidently, by scientist working to better understand dreams.
They uncovered that dreams really are from the subconscious, but that's another story since they unintentionally discovered that all fiction has a reality.
This fact was hidden from the public until very recently, when a small company was given a government grant to find a way to utilize this information, and make these alternate realities open to the public for recreation.
The company is known as Literary Guardians Inc.
Started to stop books from being censored, this company is the caretaker of the technology to access these very books.
Despite the name, they are currently accessing not only books, but scripts and internet data too.
However, many of these realities are dangerous, and thery are avoided.
But the ones that only CAN be dangerous, are given special "guardians" to look after the people using them.
Now, as final testing begins, Jim has gotten a job as a guardian at one of these realities.
Jim walked inside, and was greeted by a kind-looking man.
"Hello, there Mr. Ellis. My name is Mr. Russel, but you can call me Sid." He said.
"Hi Sid, my name's Jim." Jim said.
"I know that, Jim. Come here, why don't I show you around, okay?" Sid asked.
"Sure."
Sid showed Jim around the offices, and he finally took Jim to his workstation.
"Mr. Ellis, I mean Jim, this will be your office." Sid said.
"Neat." Jim said.
They were standing at the doorway to an office, which looked like any other office, except it had several television screens, which seemed to be fixed on various places in Jim's assigned area.
"Your secretary is over there. Her name's Marissa." Sid explained.
"Hi," a voice said.
A pretty woman's face popped up from a cubicle outside Jim's office.
"My name is Marissa!" Marissa said.
"Hi, my name is Mr. Ellis," Jim said, "But you can call me Jim."
"Okay Jim. See ya'."
Jim turned back to Sid.
"So, what book have I been assigned?"
Sid told him, and Jim was incredibly surprised.

- Another book.
- Something in the internet section.
- The part of the internet section you KNEW was coming... this!...
