"Ah, here we are," Rick said, "Mr. Ellis, you'll be working in the Marketing Division of the R&D Department."

"Wait," Jim said, "I'm confused. I thought that this is R&D. How can you have Marketing in Research and Development?"

"We have two different Marketing Divisions." Rick replied.

"Oh."



An hour later, Jim was seated in a plain white room with three other men wearing conservative business suits.

The three men were pitching various slogans for the various product to be created. Jim, however, was just sitting there, bored out of his mind and playing with a pencil.

"I've got it!" A man exclaimed. "GenomotronTM: Better yourself, better your family!"

"That's great! We could market it directly to people who's families have a history of being ugly!" Another man said. "Write that down!"

The third man wrote down what had been said.

"But what about the FurrilizerTM?" The first man asked.

"What about it?" The second responded.

"We need to think of a slogan!" Was the response.

"What do you think, Mr. Ellis?" The third man asked Jim.

Jim was startled, and he felt put on the spot. He had no idea what to say, so he just made up some complete bullshit.

"Umm, FurrilizerTM, let's see... How about, 'Recover from baldness, and then some.'?" Jim improvised.

There was a moment of silence, and then all three men started saying various things about how they loved it, and that it was brilliant.

Now Jim was confused.

How could they think that was great? Jim thought. That was the stupidest thing to ever come out of my mouth. Either they are braindead idiots, or something fishy is going on...

The men seemed to be oblivious to JIm's thoughtful look, and the third man began writing it down.

The second man mutterred that he loved it.

"I think we have enough for now," the first man said. "Why don't we go report what we have, okay?"

The other men agreed, and they left.

Jim too left the room, having not noticed at all the small camera in a corner of the ceiling...

  1. They report what they have to Rick, and he appears to love the slogan.
  2. *Elsewhere, the footage is reviewed by Mr. Williams.
  3. Something else.
