"I think that we go take a second look at that cave," Link said with renewed confidence, "it's close and low risk compared to continuing to search for the fused shadows in this state."
Midna giggled, "It looks like you're coming into the role of helpful sidekick quite quickly."
"Hey, I'm still the hero remember," Link retorted, pouting, "Anyway, let's get going, no more time to waste."
With that Link's shadowy visage began floating towards the door. Midna giggled again and followed suit heading off towards the cave outside.
Luckily for the two of them Link's house was one of the more remote buildings in Ordon, leaving no one to notice the small red headed girl in Link's clothes and shadowy exiting the secluded treehouse. The pair moved over to the crawlspace in the hill which lead to the infamous cave from earlier, "I suppose I'm expected to crawl through this filthy hole," Midna said with distain. Clearly this act was beneath a refined princess such as herself.
"I don't see any other way in," Link commented, "If it makes you feel any better, I'll go first."
Link touched down before the entrance to the hole and began crawling through. As she moved through tunnel, Link relayed she probably could have just entered Midna's shadow and rode along with her, but she wasn't entirely sure how the process of hiding in someone's shadow worked. Since Link's imp body was so small she had no problem fitting in the passage, though she had to duck her head down quite a bit to be able to crawl forward with Midna's old stone helmet. Additionally, Link's small potbelly hung low enough that it ever so slightly dragged across the dank interior of the tunnel. The damp soil rubbing against the bare skin of her stomach as she crawled onwards felt disconcertingly pleasant to Link, it also served to remind her that in addition to being and imp girl, she also was wearing no clothes.
A visible blush on her white face, she exited the tunnel into the greater cave area. Link tried to push the feeling from her crawl out of her mind as she brushed the dirt off of her body. Midna exited shortly behind the impish hero, "That was disgusting," Midna frowned, patting dirt off her clothes as well.
"Don't get too down on the idea, we have to do it again when we leave." Link broke the news, though she e was equally not looking forward to the exit trip.
Link and Midna glanced around the small cave interior. Just like before the only object in the vicinity was the small treasure chest in the center of the room.
"Maybe there's some clue inside the chest that could help us figure out what's going," Midna thought aloud as she moved over to the container.
"Careful," Link advised, following the Hylian girl.
"Your not allowed to tell me to be careful after getting us into this mess," Midna replied.
As they approached the open box, it began to exhume a black mist. The haze spilled out of the treasure chest, floating along the floor. "That doesn't look very good," Midna said stopping short.
"Midna, get out your sword," Link commanded her friend, "I can't explain it but this mist gives me a bad feeling."
Midna realized that Link was most likely sensing something about the black mist that she could no longer feel. She reached to her back and began fumbling to unsheathe the Ordon Sword.
