It had been a trying day all around, and Akane was rather desperate to let off some steam the only way she knew how.
"Hiii-ya!"
The poor brick never stood a chance. As she went to pick up another one, another sacrifice to her fists of fury she noticed this strange little rock that surely hadn't broken off any of the bricks. It was the wrong colour, the wrong texture. However did it get in there?
She pocketed it, and cast her mind back to earlier. She should be used to it by now. She should be used to the engagement, used to Ranma making some idle crack about her figure, used to the insults from him and her unwanted rivals for his sort-of-it's-complicated-really affections. Affection, hah! Did Ranma even know the meaning of the word? Then again, did she?
And then she said something that she might well come to regret later on. She said it out of frustration rather than anger, and impatience rather than fury. It was a sentence that began with a heavy sigh, continued with the words "I wish," and ended with the stone in her pocket glowing ever so slightly.
