Konatsu found Ranma overlooking the valley, tears in her eyes, sitting in vertical fetal position. Konatsu sat next to Ranma and placed an arm over her shoulder. Ranma leaned on Konatsu, wiping her tears on him.
"Did I make a mistake?" Ranma asked Konatsu. "I don't know if I can really handle this."
"You underestimate yourself." Konatsu snuggled closer to Ranma. "All those fights, struggles, surviving and thriving, you can handle this. Besides, I'm here for you."
"I know but it's just, what if I did the wrong thing? Making everyone's life harder?" Ranma's voice started to strain.
Konatsu turned Ranma's face towards his and kissed her right on the lips. It only lasted a couple of seconds but Ranma was stunned nonetheless. "Thank you. Thank you for doing it. For making the sacrifice. I appreciate it. I really do. Want to see how much?"
Ranma wiped a year away. "Maybe. But I don't know if I'm ready to have sex again. Not here. Not now. The thought of being a mother. Not now. Please. Not now."
"Who ever said anything about that?" Konatsu smiled. "I would never force you to do it when you aren't ready."
"Then what do you mean?" Ranma asked, confused at this turn of events.
"I never did make it official did I?" Konatsu blushed. "I'm sorry if it's not much, I saved all my money I've earned. But it's worth it. It's been far less of a sacrifice than what you gave up."
Ranma wondered what Konatsu was talking about until Konatsu made Ranma stand up and he got to a knee. She couldn't believe it.
"Ranma, would you be my wife?" Konatsu pulled out a ring.
It wasn't that fancy at all. Just a simple gold ring with Konatsu x Ranma engraved in it.
"I... I..." Ranma fell to her knees, holding the box with the ring. She never thought about it. Never dreamt of it. Proposing to someone yes. But being proposed to? That never crossed her mind. Sure they talked about marriage and how to do it but that was more on how to deal with the fallout and how to hide it from others and crashers. They agreed to do it somehow someday but Ranma never even dreamt of this moment. Ranma didn't know how much it would cost or much about jewelry but the fact it had their names on it, that brought Ranma to tears.
Konatsu slipped the finger on Ranma, fitting perfectly. From what Ranma knew of metals, it didn't contain much gold. But she didn't care.
Ranma jumped Konatsu knocking him over onto his back, kissing him. She was crying even more now but she didn't care.
