GTS-Related Day: ChangeCorp: Mysterious Room

Unending BE - episode 342370

Jim entered the room.

It was empty.

Jim did a double take, and it was indeed empty, which begs the question of how he heard the voice.

The room was very small. It was darkened, and contained only a chair and a television screen with two buttons.

Jim, curious as always, pushed the left button and sat down.

The screen flickered to life, and Jim nearly had a heart attack when he saw what was on it.

...Jim was going towards the supermarket.

Once he arrived, he went to the baker's section.

At the baker's section, Jim noticed a young and extremely chesty woman.

Jim went over and she greeted him.

"I bet a stud like you has women lined up halfway down the street for a date!"

Jim blushed a bit, obviously flattered. "No, just one. Her name's Sharon."

"That's great!" the woman said. "I'm just here for Biotech; we're doing a by-mail survey, and I was wondering if you'd like to give me both of your addresses so that you can take the survey! You'll also be entered into our sweepstakes and given a free gift!"

Jim gave her his address, and a flashing PRIORITY sign came up on her computer. At that moment, a group of BioTech guards came up from behind the woman...

Back in the real world, Jim stared in awe at what was on the screen.

This had never happened. Jim thought. If it had happened I'd remember it.

As Jim continued watching the screen, a thought popped into his head.

But then how does that person look, talk, and act like me?

Jim watched as the footage finished with Jim demanding to know what they had done with Sharon, and guards instructing him to remain calm, readying their tasers.

The footage finished, and the screen flickered into static.

Jim reached up and touched he other button, and the screen clicked off.

There was silence in the dark room for a moment, then suddenly there was a clapping sound.

Jim whirled around to see a conservatively dressed man, standing in the doorframe, clapping slightly.

"Bravo, Mr. Ellis." The man said. "Most people don't have the willpower to turn it off after seeing this sort of thing."

"Who the hell are you?" Jim demanded. "And what the hell was that?"

"Please remain calm, Mr. Ellis." The man said, infuriatingly calm himself. "All will be explained. For the time being, you should know that my name is Mr. Williams."

"Well then, Mr. Williams, just what the hell is going on here? What is..." Jim asked, pointing back at the screen, "That!?"

"They are alternate paths, Mr. Ellis. Things that could have been, and in fact have been." Mr. Williams told him. "Behavioral experiments, on you."

"You have been conducting experiments on me?" Jim asked, horrified at the prospect.

"Not us, you see. BioTech. They have been conducting experiments on you, and on your girlfriend."

"Sharon?"

"Yes," Mr. Williams said. "Them, E.M., BlackCo., the list goes on and on."

"Why?" Jim asked in a faint voice.

"Because they all wish to know more, to gain an advantage over each other." Mr. Williams said. "And the reason that I'm telling you this is that we here at ChangeCorp. want you to help us."

"Help you how?"

  1. *"We need you to help further the project."
  2. "We need you here, Mr. Ellis, because you are the constant."
  3. "We need you to contact Sharon."
  4. Something else.
