Mr. Williams hit a button on his chair.
In the center of the table, a holographic image appeared.
It was a line.
"This," said Mr. Williams, "Is a thread. A thread can be good or bad. However, if it is a threat, it can be handled."
Mr. Williams hit another button.
The holographic image of a thread expanded, and split into five seperat pieces.
"This is what we have now, and it is a problem." Mr. Williams explained. "In each of the options, something which could destabilize society is happening."
"I don't understand," Jim said. "Options?"
"Chances, opportunities, paths, parallels, call them what you will, they are dangerous. And they are being created by a small, independant company known as Literary Guardians Inc." Johnson explained.
"Thank you, Mr. Johnson." Mr. Williams said. "You see Mr. Ellis, the problem is fiction."
"Fiction?" Jim asked, extremely confused.
"Yes, fiction. Using potentially dangerous technology, they are actually going into these seperate universes, visiting them, and now they are going to be opening these universes to society." Mr. Williams said.
"So these, 'options,' stemming from that thread are different universes?" Jim asked.
"No, and this is where it gets truly dangerous. They are all concerning just one universe out of many. Many of these places will change society, actually crippling it. They are doing the final phases of testing right now, and it should be opened to the public in several weeks."
"So why are you telling me this?" Jim asked, ready for the all-important answer.
"We need you to work with our C.C. Special Ops Team." Mr. Williams concluded.
