The apparent Nymphadora Tonks, really Harry Potter remade temporarily into a duplicate of the dead woman by a magical skinsuit, gripped the copy of Tonks' wand firmly, pointed it at herself, and with confidence prounced the words of the spell, saying "Verto tergum!"
The change was very quick. Afterwards the new Tonks would have described the sensation as one of her skin melting into her flesh, her flesh shifting and becoming masculine, and a new skin growing over that changed flesh -- but it happened very quickly, in mere moments, with little pain. Afterwards it was apparently Harry Potter standing where Tonks had been, pointing a wand clearly not his own at his own body, just a bit dazed. Harry put the wand carefully on the floor and promptly felt for the catch of the Harry Potter skinsuit that provided his (or "his"?) identity. Suddenly the catch popped open and a genuine Nymphadora Tonks was shedding the Harry Potter skinsuit that had moments before been Harry Potter's body.
